ISPS Handa Portugal Ladies Open

This week we are at the Campo Real Resort just off Lisbon's Silver Coast for the ISPS Handa Portugal Ladies Open. I have now completed two days of practice and I'm ready and looking forward to getting started tomorrow.

After a disappointing week in Turkey last week I have made the decision to change to a belly putter. After struggling with my putter for a while I feel that a complete change will give me something new to focus on and I believe it will be good for my game.

This weeks tournament is being used as a fundraiser for the Japanese Earthquake tragedy so hopefully the LET will help be able to raise a lot of money for a really good cause.

Aberdeen Ladies Scottish Open 2011

On wednesday I attended the media launch for this years Aberdeen Ladies Scottish Open. Once again Archerfield will play host to the pro-am event which was a big success in 2010. The tournament takes place 18th - 20th August 2011 and has the backing of Aberdeen Asset Management.

The media launch was a chance for some members of the press to compete for a place in the pro-am event. Pictured above is me with my team on the day, golfwriters Euan Mclean and Nick Rodger alongside Lorna Campbell from Eventscotland.

This year we want the tournament to be even bigger and better than last years event so put the dates in your diary and come along to see some great golf and support the girls on the Ladies European Tour.

Enjoying my time at home.

After Morocco I returned home for the first time in 3 months after my trip to Australia. It has been really nice to see all my family and friends and catch up with everyone. We have had a few family birthdays so it has been a really busy time.

I have also used the time since Morocco to catch up with my coach, Ian Rae to tidy up a few parts of my swing which needed some work. We have been able to do some good work in a short space of time and I am beginning to feel really good about the way I am striking the ball. In the next two weeks before my next event in Turkey I plan to work hard on my short game and get out onto the course as much as possible.

In addition to the work on my game it has also been time to update my equipment, I have a new set of Mizuno Irons which are in my bag now and I am in the process of testing some drivers and fairway woods to see if there is anything which is better suited to me than my current equipment. It is always exciting to get new equipment so I am looking forward to practicing with my new clubs to get used to them before Turkey.

Fingers crossed I can get some new woods in the bag very soon.

Disappointing week in Morocco

The Lalla Merryem Cup turned out to be a disappointing week for me. I had some drama with my local caddy in the first round when he raked a bunker for my playing partner before I had played my shot from the same bunker. This cost me a two shot penalty and was a bit of a blow coming early in my first round. I finished that day with a 7 over par 79 which gave me a bit of work to do for the second round. In the end a poor bogey-bogey finish meant I missed the cut by 3 shots, not much given that I didnt hit two of those shots.

The two shot penalty was just one of those things which happen in golf and I'm hoping it won't happen to me again. Lesson leanred to keep a closer eye on my caddy in the future.

Lalla Meryem Cup 2011 - Golf Du Soleil

Today is the first round of the Lalla Meryem Cup in Morocco. The tournament is being played at Golf Du Soleil in Agadir. Its nice to be back on tour after my time in Australia and I'm looking forward to getting started today.

The course is really nice, tight in places so accuracy off the tee will be important this week. I'm hitting the ball well and feeling good so I just want to stay patient this week and get some good scores under my belt.

It's going to be a hot one today so plenty of sunscreen.

Last day of Spring Valley Practice

This is my last day in Melbourne and the last day I will practice at Spring Valley Golf Club before I fly back to the UK. I'm about to go and do some short game work before I play this afternoon with a few of the Spring Valley Ladies, should be fun!

Phillip Island Ladies Pro-Am

On Friday I played in the Phillip Island Golf Club pro-am sponsored by Linfox. I had a great day with my team of ladies from the host course, Jill, Cathy and Cindy. The golf was pretty good too, I finished tied 4th in a field of 15 with a score of 73 which was marred by two bad holes. I feel my game is good shape and I'm looking forward to teeing it up in Morocco in two weeks time.
